Welcoming the New Year

As the calendar flips to 2025, I find myself reflecting on the whirlwind that was 2024. It was a year of incredible highs, transformative experiences, and countless lessons. It was also a year that brought me clarity—clarity about what I want to pursue and where I want to channel my energy. From this moment onward, I am committing myself to focusing on mathematics, a field that has always sparked my curiosity and passion.

But before I delve into the future, I want to take a moment to express my deepest gratitude to all the friends and family who stood by me. Your unwavering support, encouragement, and love have been the cornerstone of everything I’ve achieved. Thank you for believing in me, especially during the moments when I doubted myself.

Looking back, 2024 feels like a montage of unforgettable moments. In January, I was knee-deep in my pre-boards, uncertain about where life would take me. Around the same time, I attended my uncle’s wedding in Punjab—a joyful celebration that gave me a much-needed break from the academic grind. By March, the intensity ramped up as I tackled my board exams, a culmination of years of schooling. Then came April, a month that marked two pivotal milestones. First, I solidified my college plans and knew that the University of Washington in Seattle would be my home for the next four years. And second, I embarked on a cruise to the Lakshadweep Islands, a journey that felt like a reward for surviving the chaos of exams.

June took me to Kolkata, a city that holds a special place in my heart. It was a time of reconnecting with family and relishing the culture and stories that have shaped me. By September, I was boarding a flight to Seattle, embarking on my college journey and experiencing the excitement and challenges of living in the US. To round off the year, December saw me back in India, closing the loop on an extraordinary twelve months.

And how could I forget how it all began? My flight to the US was on New Year’s Day. Quite literally, I started my year with a voyage, setting the tone for a year filled with movement, discovery, and growth.

As I step into 2025, I’m filled with determination to make mathematics my focus. It’s a discipline that challenges and inspires me, and I’m eager to dive deeper into its beauty and complexity. This year is not just about academic growth but also about embracing a mindset of perseverance and curiosity.
